Innovation: DIFGANDES 2.0 Android App for Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction.

 

THE ISSUE :

1. Older people and people with disabilities have three times greater risk factors than the general population during emergency;

2. Lack of information that can be easily accessed for preparedness;

3. Lack of integrated services (incl. for specific needs) provided for at-risk community during emergency

 

THE PROCESS :  

1. Series of discussions with the local organization of people with disabilities showed app is needed for digital early warning system, provide climate and hazard information particularly on alarming volcano activities and earthquake;

2. Made prototype in collaboration with IT partners; coordination with the targeted village government of Girikerto to test the application also with the targeted village disaster preparedness team;

3. Tested and collected feedback from the end users
